Abstract:
Defocusing digital particle image velocimetry (DDPIV) is a velocimetry technique for the volumetric mapping of the three-dimensional velocity flow field. We describe the principle along with applications that illustrate its application to highly three-dimensional flows, for instance the transport of micro-bubbles in a turbulent flow generated by a propeller. The second part of the presentation will show its implementation to microscopic scales, more specifically to biological problems.
