Spectral Element Methods in Computational Fluid Dynamics

Friday, 5 May, 2017 - 14:00
Speaker: Martin Hess, Sissa MathLab

Place: SISSA campus, via Bonomea 265, 34136 Trieste
Time: 14:00
AbstractThe talk introduces the spectral element method as a method to solve partial differential equations numerically. Several technical aspects are discussed, like boundary-interior decomposition and collapsed coordinate systems, which enable an efficient implementation. The application is shown on a bifurcation model, governed by the Navier-Stokes equations.
