Title:  “Fluid-Structure Interaction algorithms with turbulence and free surface


Abstract: We present a Fluid-Structure Interaction approach suited for thin structure.

Several ingredients will be first introduced and then coupled: an immersed boundary method for the structure itself, a CFD finite volume solver (OpenFoam) in presence of turbulence and a free-surface.

Benchmark test cases are first presented to validate the approach, then the methodology is applied within more complex systems made up of very thin structure compared with their deformations, such as mechanical plates, sails, aerodynamic structures with potential applications in wind, sport and mechanical engineering.
