Abstract:
The theory of Reduced Basis Methods (RBM) is well-advanced in areas that engineers would mainly call "model problems". On the other hand, the potential for using RBMs in "real-world" industrial application is huge - but also the arising challenges. In this talk, we show some real problems from engineering, economy and finance and indicate the main mathematical challenges arising from these applications.
